Medicine is the most sought after professional course for students. Indian medicine is older than western medicine and we have courses on Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy & Sudha. In 2019 around 15 lakhs students appeared for NEET exam for 78,000+ seats, the total available in Indian Universities and colleges.
There are several options to students other than MBBS like BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BPT etc. even though maximum number of students opt for MBBS.
The BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), which is equivalent to MBBS, is the second best option for students. It’s the one and only course of dental surgery in India.
BAMS is a traditional healing program in Ayurveda. BAMS course gives the complete knowledge about “Charaka Samhita” ‘Ashtanga Hridaya’ penned by the Father of Indian Medicine & the first Surgeon of the World, Susruthan, with the latest knowledge and training in modern medicine.
BHMS is the study of Homeopathy, the system of alternative medicines, where the patients are treated by developing the natural curing capacity of the human body.
BUMS (Bachelors of Unani Medicine and Surgery) is a five and a half years undergraduate degree, of which 4.5 years will be the academic session and one year of compulsory rotatory internship.
BVSc & AH is another option taught in veterinary science colleges. For this entrance exam of Vetinery Council of India called AICEE (All India Common Entrance Examination) or the State level exams to be cleared. B VSc. & AH is 5-years course with internship program. There are lot of job vacancies in Animal Husbandry Departments of various States of India.
